  1. Get a good education – mandatory College or University courses in applicable fields
  2. Transition from a career in an advertising agency, marketing firm, PR company or a related field
  3. Spend money on a good resume and on a good wardrobe – first impressions count

Broadcast Sales Account Executive – Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a sales territory based on a specified account territory or geographical definition
  • Grow existing and develop new business through personal contact with advertisers and advertising agencies and as assigned
  • Produce customized sales materials, proposals and presentations
  • Develop new and unique ways to package and sell the “value” versus “price”
  • Work well in a Team as well as independently
Candidate Criteria:
  • Post secondary education mandatory
  • Education in business, broadcast, public relations, interactive, marketing and/or related fields - Media studies or previous media sales experience
  • Business professional with strong presentation skills
  • Thorough understanding of importance of “research” in the Sales process
  • A complete understanding of and proficiency with the Internet.
  • Detail oriented - able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with tight deadlines.
  • A good "time manager" - meeting critical deadlines demanded by the nature of advertising business.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with excellent business writing skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
